Staff
The institute has laboratories and an examination room for practical training of students, where they can learn the correct assessment of the nutritional status of the examined with regard to the primary prevention of non-infectious diseases of mass incidence. Practical exercises in dietetics in the teaching kitchen are now included in the teaching.
The activities of the Institute are also focused on practical counselling in the field of primary prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases of mass incidence in specific population groups through a healthy lifestyle.
Education
The teaching of hygiene and preventive medicine is included in the 5th year of studies in both dentistry and general medicine and in the 6th year of studies in general medicine, which culminates in a state rigorosum examination common to social and occupational medicine.
Research
The Institute’s research activities are traditionally linked to nutrition, currently in relation to obesity and the health effects of persistent food contaminants. The institute’s academics are also involved in scientific committees of national and international institutions dealing with nutrition and obesity.
